OrganoClick's Expansion into Asian Markets

Background: OrganoClick is a Swedish cleantech company, listed on Nasdaq First North, specializing in the development, production, and marketing of functional materials using environmentally friendly fiber chemistry. Its product range includes OrganoTex®, a water-repellent fabric treatment, OrganoWood®, a flame and rot-resistant timber, and bio-composite materials. Founded in 2006 as a spin-off from research conducted at Stockholm University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, OrganoClick has garnered numerous accolades, including Sweden's Most Promising Start-up, WWF Climate Solver, and has been featured on Sweden's list of top technology companies.

Challenge: As part of its expansion strategy, OrganoClick aimed to enter the Asian market, focusing on China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan. With China producing approximately 77% of the world’s functional textiles and housing over 15,000 textile factories, particularly concentrated in Eastern China, the company sought a local distribution partner in China for its durable water-repellent treatment, OrganoTex®.

Solution: OrganoClick engaged Scandic Sourcing to identify a suitable distributor in China. Scandic Sourcing conducted a comprehensive market scan, identifying over 50 potential distributors in line with OrganoClick's specifications. Through a detailed evaluation process, 12 companies were selected for further assessment. Each company underwent a thorough survey, with scoring based on predefined criteria, resulting in a shortlist of five top candidates.

Result: OrganoClick successfully partnered with Shanghai Amazingtex Trading Co., Ltd, one of the shortlisted distributors. Shanghai Amazingtex had a strong fit with OrganoClick's needs and possessed a broad customer network in China. According to Mårten Hellberg, CEO of OrganoClick, "This is an important first step in our plan to achieve widespread geographical distribution of our textile products and technologies in the Asian market. The collaboration with Shanghai Amazingtex is a promising start in China, and we will now continue developing distribution networks in Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan.
